Carly Power

Carly Power is a classically trained soprano with a love of early music from the Baroque period. She completed her music studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 2011 and a Graduate Diploma of Music in 2012.

Since leaving WAAPA, Carly has continued to pursue her love of music and performing. In 2015 she won Art Song Perth’s Evelyn and Ralph Thompson Memorial Scholarship, performing as a trio with early music instrumentalists Aidan Deasy and Makoto Harris Takao. With the assistance of the Scholarship, Carly has recently returned from a successful round of Masters auditions in the United Kingdom where she intends to pursue studies in Historical Performance.
Carly currently holds the position of Principal Cantor at St Mary’s Cathedral, Perth and has recently performed with Lark Chamber Opera and Art Song Perth.

Some of her performance highlights are playing the role of Bianca in the Australian premier of Goetz’s opera The Taming of the Shrew, along with her broad sword wielding performance in Monteverdi’s Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, where she played the role of Clorinda.

A unique performance experience was singing in the inaugural Galbraith Estate recital in Moss Vale NSW. This concert took place on a rural estate where Carly performed in a bush setting wearing hiking boots to complement her ball gown!

Along with singing, Carly has also completed a Graduate Diploma of Education and teaches voice at Mercedes College, St Stephen’s School and John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School.
